Purpose-built workshops

The school is set within three acres of grounds on a 17th Century farmstead, at the foot of the Malvern Hills, just a mile outside the picturesque riverside town of Upton-upon-Severn. It is an inspiring and idyllic place to learn, with excellent transport links via the M5 and M50.

Whether it’s the tranquillity of the countryside and the Cotswolds or the buzz of the city, culture and theatres you prefer, our central location ensures a variety of destinations are easily accessible. Birmingham and Stratford are a 45-minute drive away, you can be in Bristol within an hour, or London in two hours.

There must be something fundamentally good about a school where the pupils arrive early and are queuing up to get in of a morning.

Our workshops and facilities

Our purpose-built workshops have been specifically designed as a home for the school; the workshop isn’t shared with anyone else and all the facilities are under one roof. You will have your own bench and personal workspace in our dedicated hand tool workshop and direct access to the latest woodworking equipment in our adjoining machine workshop.

Hand tool workshop

Naturally lit, and very spacious hand tool workshop. Each student has their own workbench alongside Peter’s, with a dedicated personal workspace that isn’t shared with anyone else. Access to a variety of veneering and laminating equipment as well as sharpening and grinding stations. Plus, storage areas for timber, veneer and student projects.

It is a privilege to work in Peter’s workshop with such a high quality of equipment and instruction, and a sharpness of chisels and planes that I did not believe possible!

Tool store

A spacious internal tool store is used to house an extensive stock of handheld tools and portable electrical items such as routers, drills, biscuit jointers, dominos etc. as well as polishes, glues and workshop consumables. The store also provides a secure room for all students to keep their toolboxes and kit when not at their own workbenches.
