Course Overview
• Why choose this course?
This course is designed for those who are new to wood machining or have been using their own machines with limited experience. It will also be useful to students who need to be updated on the latest regulations and safe systems of work, including ACoP (Approved Code of Practice).
If you are unfamiliar with wood machines, they can be daunting. The emphasis of this course will be on accurate and efficient use of modern woodworking machines operated within craft workshops. The machines that you will use are mainly from the Felder “Hammer” range and comply with the latest legislation. You will be given practical demonstrations and hands-on experience; Peter has many years experience in wood machining techniques and teaching those new to using machines.
The third day is dedicated solely to the setting up and safe use of the spindle moulder, to include the selection of cutter blocks and suitable guarding techniques.
During the course, Peter will assist and guide students, and he will endeavour to help with any particular problems you have been encountering with your own machines. Impartial advice will be given on the buying of machines and tooling.
• What will I achieve?
This course will give you a thorough grounding in the safe and practical use of wood machines and tool selection, allowing you to make the most of your investment in your machines. You will learn how to save time, working accurately and with confidence. You will also come away with an extensive manual, written by Peter, on the Safe Use of Woodworking Machines and Setting up of Guards.
